LASEO, or Los Angeles Student Educational Outreach, is a UCLA student-run organization that combats educational inequity in the Los Angeles Unified School District. We pursue three fundamental goals:
To Improve
the academic and social capabilities of underprivileged youth by providing tutoring services that help students reach their full potential.
To Serve
as students' mentors to foster self-esteem, help form positive goals, and encourage the pursuit of higher education.
To Provide
the opportunity for college students to give back their community.
Members of the LASEO program meet on Fridays weeks 3-9, excluding holidays. Transportation between Berendo Middle School and UCLA's campus is provided. Tutors meet from 2pm to 5:30pm (including transportation times). They connect with their students for one-on-one tutoring for about an hour, followed by activities and mentoring for another half hour.
